Studio Policies

Fragrance

Westie Underground has a reduced scent policy for all classes and social dances we host. Please refrain from using scented products such as perfume, cologne, body lotion, hair products, scented laundry beads, etc.

Several of our community members have severe sensitivities to fragrances that cause them serious harm. We strive to make the space safe and welcoming for everyone and we thank you for helping us to achieve that goal.

Shoes

Outdoor shoes may not be worn within the studio, and any footwear must be clean and have non-marking outsoles. The ideal footwear is a pair of suede-bottomed dance shoes, but any footwear with little to no rubber tread will work:

• • Flat-bottomed casual shoes (such as Toms)
  • Dress shoes/pumps (with block heels 1-inch or less)
  • Cowboy boots
  • Socked feet

We also have a small supply of Dance Socks available for purchase that slip over normal shoes to provide floor grip closer to suede-bottomed dance shoes.

Dress Code

Aside from our footwear requirements above, Westie Underground has no explicit dress code requirements.

We recommend wearing clothing you know you can move in easily, but beyond that in terms of style, we have dancers show up for classes and social dances in everything from t-shirts and jeans to “athleisure” wear to business casual.
