ENJOY THE JOURNEY

Westie Underground is a collective of teachers dedicated to promoting partner dances in Ottawa and beyond. We love to dance and we want to spread that love to everyone. We introduce students to different dance styles and teach them to have fun, to love the dance, and to enjoy their learning journey. Whether you're a social dancer, a performer, or a competitor, Westie Underground has a place for you on our dance floor.

West Coast Swing

A linear dance with a smooth, elastic aesthetic and an emphasis on improvisational movement.

Country Two-Step

A dance done to country music with a strong focus on travel and turning for both partners.

Hustle

A fun and stylish partner dance modelled after the dances of the disco era in the USA in the 1970s.

Line Dance

A solo, choreographed dance with repetitive movements focusing on footwork and timing.

OUR MISSION

We strive to encourage dancers to enjoy the journey of learning, connecting, dancing, and sometimes competing too. We strive to develop, foster, and grow the Ottawa dance community.

Our mission is to:

1. To promote WCS, country two-step, hustle, and line dancing to new and experienced dancers.

2. To provide an inclusive, welcoming, and fun social dance experience.

3. To provide a safe and encouraging learning environment for all dancers regardless of their experience or goals.
